We’ve had some fun, amazing, and creative runners and walkers do the AETR in its few years running. Here are a few links to some of our favorite race reports. If you know of others, please let us know!
Chris Butcher–the AKTrailRunner, 2021 Pacing
This year, Chris paced two friends for the 2021 AETR, which because of the rallying of an incredible group of volunteers happened! I’m amazed that Chris was able to pace two people so effectively, a testament to his experience with ultras and the AETR in particular. Thanks, Chris!
Chris Butcher, 2020 24-Hour Fun Run
The 2020 AETR didn’t happen because of the pandemic, but a little detail like that wouldn’t keep Chris Butcher, AKtrailrunner, down! No, he headed out to do a 24-hour fun run on the course, and had…an adventure.
Ned Rozell, 2018 24-Hour Race
Ned is the science writer for the Geophysical Institute, wrote this for his regular Alaska Science Forum column. Fun observations about his race, science, and nature!

Chris Butcher, 2018 24-Hour Race
Chris is an awesome Fairbanks runner who has competed all three years so far of the AETR, and this year made a video of the experience. I didn’t even know he was recording it!
(Interesting note about the midnight sun: At around the 3:30 mark in the video, Chris turns the camera from himself to the southern horizon to show what it looks like at 12:30 AM. Since he points the camera right at the sun, which is just below the horizon, the landscape in the foreground goes dark. But when the camera is on him, you can see how light it is!)
