June 2-3, 2023 Start Times:

24-hour race: 8 P.M. ADT Friday
First 12-hour race: 8 P.M. ADT Friday
First 6-hour race: 8 A.M. ADT Saturday
Second 12-hour race: 8 A.M. ADT Saturday
Second 6-hour race: 2 P.M. ADT Saturday

2023 is the seventh year for the Alaska Endurance Trail Run (we had to cancel 2020’s event because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but thankfully 2021 went on, and we’re continuing strong). It is a timed race, sometimes called a fixed-time race, meaning that you race the clock to see how far you can go in the allotted time. There are three options: a 6-hour race, a 12-hour race, and a 24-hour race; sign up for one of them. All races but the first 6-hour and 12-hour races will finish at the same time, 8 P.M. on Saturday, which always makes for an exciting completion of the day (particularly for our timers!). Immediately following the finish, the post-race BBQ party will start, with the awards ceremony as soon as results are ready.

We got lots of feedback after the first year of the event that 6-hour participants would like the option to start in the morning. So you can do the 6-hour race starting at either 8 A.M. or 2 P.M. Then in 2018 some of the 12-hour racers wanted to start Friday night and run all night, so we added that option in 2019. It’s 24 hours of fun!

Those who start early are honor-bound to come back for the BBQ and party at 8 P.M. on Saturday though!

The starting area is near the ski hut to the west of the International Arctic Research Center. This is the building adjacent to and on the west side of the Geophysical Institute in the upper campus of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The address is 930 Koyukuk Drive, Fairbanks, Alaska. On race day, we’ll have signs out to help you find it.

The course is a mildly hilly, 6+ mile loop around the trails of the UAF West Ridge. Hilly enough to make it challenging, without requiring superhuman effort. We welcome both walkers and runners, and even those who walk and run at different times! Come challenge yourself to test the limits of your endurance!
